Rational Numbers on a Number Line Math Games

3 games

In this series of games, your students will learn to understand p + q as the number located a distance |q| from p.  The Rational Numbers on a Number Line learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 7.NS.A.1.b as written in the common core national math standards.

Concepts Covered

A fundamental fact about the addition of rational numbers is that p + (-p) = 0 for any rational number p. Use situations to describe why this is true (An elevator goes up three floors, then down three floors, etc.) Interpret negative number addition and subtraction expressions that describe real-world contexts.
